''It was like passing a boundary to dive / Into the sun-filled water, brightly leafed / And limbed and lighted out from bank to bank. / That's how the stars shine during the day.'' -- Wallace Stevens

Water Quality - Water Quality News

With all the talk about less regulation and government interference, some politicians seem to forget that government is not about making speeches and fundraising.

From March 3 until August 30, 2011, there have been 297 separate events in South Carolina with over 2,874,575 gallons spilled.

H.3617 - Chronic Sewage Polluter Bill:

Introduced by Rep. Mike Pitts (R-Laurens) – This bill will further regulate any wastewater utility with two spills over 5,000 gallons each per 100 miles of collection pipe in a 12-month period.  The utility would be required to develop a comprehensive plan to remedy deficiencies.

DHEC has set up this website that lists sewage spills in the state.  Click here to track those spills for youself.
