If you know someone making an admirable effort to benefit South Carolina’s environment, the South Carolina Forestry Commission would like to hear from you.
The commission is accepting nominations now through Dec. 31 for its annual Environmental Awareness Award, which honors state residents “who are doing extraordinary work on behalf of our environment,” the commission said in a statement.
Winners are chosen by a committee made up of people from natural resources agencies.
Key qualities in the nominees are leadership and innovation. The 2010 winner was Frank S. Holleman III, who leads Naturaland Trust and helped conserve the Blue Wall Connection scenic corridor and Stumphouse Mountain.
The award is now in its 19th year
