Keep the Midlands Beautiful
Electronics Recycling - It's the Law!
As of July 1, 2011, residents are no longer allowed to dispose of computers, computer monitors, printers and televisions with their household garbage.  These items must be recycled.

The legislation specifically says that residents “may not knowingly place or discard” a computer, computer monitor, printer and television “in any waste stream that is to be disposed of in a solid waste landfill.”

The City of Columbia, Lexington County, and Richland County all have drop-off locations for recycling electronics. Click her for more information.

Lexington and Richland County regularly hold collection events.  There are several events TOMORROW, July 9:
  • Richland County Special Recycling Collection Events, 9:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m. at Dutch Square Mall (421 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC; Midtown at Forest Acres (3400 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC; and Columbia Place Mall (7201 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC.) Click here for more information.
